Hi y'all,I replaced the stator on my 2000 XLH today,and after buttoning up everything,I hit the starter button.It made a clunk sound and is acting like the engine or trans is locked up.Started to disassemble,but stopped my self,as I would like to pick some brains before I continue.Anyone have an idea what I may have done? I followed the manual implicitly,so I'm stumped.Any ideas would be appreciated.
1. Check your battery! Load test it, not just checking voltage.
2. Lift the rear tire off the ground, plugs out, put in highest gear, can you rotate the rear tire?
3. Missing spacers between rotor and stator, bound up when tightening the compensator.
4. Clutch reassembled/adjusted wrong.
Did you use an impact wrench on the nut and knock a magnet off the rotor. Or possibly left the locking tool between the rotor and clutch basket after tightening up the nut.
