Default Wheels

Good morning. Scott here. I have a set of chrome spoke wheels that I would like to put on my 2008 sportster. These wheels came off of a 2007 sportster. I understand that the axle sizes are different. Anyone have any ideas on this? Do I need new bearings & spacers or axles for the 07 wheels? Or is there a bearing that will fit these 07 wheels with a 25mm inside diameter? Not sure. Thanks.

So you are saying these 2 bearings is all I need? They will fit the 07 wheels? I see they have a 25mm inside diameter. Thank you.

In the 2007 wheel hub is a bearing that is 21mm wide. In a 2008 wheel the bearing is 15mm wide. As the process of putting in the primary side bearing first until it bottoms out I don't see how that is going to work without finding a 6mm spacer to put in the hub first.

If I am wrong then good else I think you have a problem with doing the fitment.

The other solution is to find bearings that are ID 25mm x OD 52mm x Width 21mm

Sounds like it may be an issue. Probably best to keep what I've got on the bike.

Have you tried to contact your local dealer or indy? They might have some practical answers for you. Not sure I'd trust our peanut gallery when you're dealing with wheels and bearings, a failure could be catastrophic.

Well pray tell how you think it will go putting a 15mm wide bearing in a 21mm deep recess?

I have had an engineering company turn spacers for a project to get a bearing in the correct position on a shaft.

There isn't a whole lot of magic to it only that the spacer has to be made the correct internal diameter so as to not rub on the inner race for use on a wheel.
