The H-D part # for the horn side mounting bracket for the EFI Sportster is 69049-07.

You will need to replace the stock 3/8-16 x 7/8" torx button head screws with 3/8-16 x 1" screws, the stock items aren't long enough to mount the bracket, that extra 1/8" (3.2mm) will make up for the thickness of the bracket.

Don't forget to clean the old H-D threadlocker out of the threads in the cylinder heads and use a smear of new threadlocker upon installation, Loctite 243 (the blue one) is ideal as it is a semi-permanent compound and can be disassembled if needed. Don't use red Loctite as it is a permanent setting compound, once it has set you'll never be able to remove the screws again.

The side mount horn fits to a rubber bush. It is blooming difficult to get the horn to sit vertical.

That would be annoying.

just a thought.....

Yes, it could, but the rubber bush is there to prevent the horn internals from being damaged by vibration from the motor. Unfortunately some people fail to see the bigger picture and the complain about the slightest thing, if the horn mount required a star washer, H-D would have installed one in the factory.

When doing up the acorn nut what happens is the rubber twists a little so when the horn is then let go it takes up a new position. It is a bit of trial and error to hold the horn in the correct place but doing the nut to the same torque each time. So to spell it out move it to the wrong place and it won't sit vertical. Do the nut up to a different torque and it won't sit vertical.

Let your OCD run wild getting the horn to sit exactly where you want it!

No complaints from me.

The horn is held securely with the parts supplied, nothing else is required.
