Default rear wheel differences

Would a 2005 XL1200C rear wheel fit a 2008 XL1200C? One is cast, and one is laced. Thank you.

05 has a 1” axel/bearings so No, unless you have the axel to go with it. Your 08 has 25mm axel/bearings.

Check hub dimension or bearing dimension between the two. It may just need the 25mm ID bearing fitting and everything else stays the same.

1” bearings are double row. I have not been able to find a 1” bearing with a width of 15mm.=(25mm bearing width)
I am currently doing a wheel swap on my 07… believe me, I’ve been doing the research.

The OP would want a 25mm ID bearing not a 1".

Conversion kit - https://secure.vulcanworks.net/store...ront-ends.html

Other conversions possible - https://secure.vulcanworks.net/store...nversion-Kits/

if you read op’s post, he wants to know if a wheel from an 05 would fit his 08. You cannot use a 25mm bearing on a wheel that has 1” bearings. The 1” bearing is double roller. A 25mm bearing is single roller.
So unless he has a 1” axel to go with the 05 wheel, swapping bearings to 25mm id, , is not an option.

Sorry I edited my post. A company makes a spacer that sits behind the narrow bearing.

https://secure.vulcanworks.net/store...ront-ends.html

I think HD also has a kit for doing the same using just parts they supply.

Not sure it matters but the item you’ve shown claims “for front ends”.
Op is talking about rear wheel swap. And as I said, I am also doing a wheel swap and learning what I can and can’t get away with.

63205-2RS Radial Ball Bearing Double Sealed ID 25mm x OD 52mm x Width 21mm may also help with using an old hub wheel that takes 21mm bearings on bikes that use 25mm axles.
