Default Starting issues

Good day ya'll. I have an 08 xl1200n, i blow a bunch of sensors, replaced those, then redid my fuel pump assembly, when i went to start the bike, it would crank, but not turn over. I have a red key light on the speedo, but i dont have an alarm. Could this cause my bike to not turn over? And what coulr cause this? Been draling with this issue for about three months. Sometimes it would start then i shut it off it wont turn over. The last time it ran for the whole day, and then didnt turn over again. I have checked the ecm, i have looked for exposed wires checked my grnd wires and connectors. I am not getting any dtc, and i have looked at my manuel and it only refers to the alarm. Id there possibly one of those tipover sensors on this bike?

Use the information here to get the codes:- Harley Trouble Codes (fuelmotousa.com)

Report back with the codes you have.

See your in good hands with Andy.

That last question, your tipover sensor is called a bank angle sensor (BAS) Most Harleys', it's in with signal light blinker and alarm if equipped, module. It resets ever key off and on. Would not think it would even crank if that was bad.

Have seen them go bad or not be mounted in correct firm position from users on here.

Would like to add, and only as a suggestion, make your next new post over in the new member welcome area to say hello.

And of course..
Welcome Joker.

Hope you continue to enjoy your ride here with us on the HDFORUM.

Only as a suggestion, but very important, create a signature line similar to mine with your year, model, and all the letters Harley assigned to your bike. It will appear at bottom of your post.

You can also add a favorite picture to the signature line.

Doing this will be helpful if you ask a question or someone asking a question. All Harleys aren't the same with many changes and variations over the years.

You can also add a favorite picture for an Aviator postage stamp you see at the top left of your post.

Here you can see that part.

So there rnt any codes being thrown. I have checked the ground wires, the lights come on, i have the red key symbol, but dont have an alarm nor a fob. Nvr did have a fob. The clutch safety switch is sheared off, but i dont ever start my bike in gear, cause i dont park it in gear.i have replaced the coil the tmap sensor, the et sr
sensor, the crank postitioning sensor, fuel regulator, fuel pressure regulator, the fuel rail and hose, the injectors, fuel positioning sensor, one o2 sensor, fuel pump, the fuel filter and housing, rewired the fuel pump assembly, the fues rnt blown, or dirty, i have checked the pins in the ecm, the connector is secure, and not dirty, i am so lost rt now that it is driving me nuts.

With your bike if it is working properly you would turn on the ignition switch to power the bike. You will see the red key and it will go off after 4 seconds.

Put the run stop switch to run and see the check engine light come on. 4 seconds later it should go off.

If either of those light stays lit you have stored codes.

Why did the fuel pump need rewiring?

I can't help but think now there is so much you are not telling us amongst just guessing at anything.

At this point you need to find someone who has HD experience.

It was totalled. My buddy wrecked her and bought a new road king, gave me the sportie. She wasnt even running when i got her. I cant afford a HD mechanic. Im a mechanic myself, but i am not used to the efi. Old carb motors yes. The bike starts right up with ether. So i know it is a fuel issue. But as i have said i have done the diag on the speedo, no codes have been thrown. Ir was running a couple of weeks ago but for a short time and then back to non-starting. When this issue started it was a witing issue inside the tank. I rewired it, the bike started rt up the next day it wouldnt start. I check the wiring and even used the mulitimeter, checked resistance, as weel as the volts. Checked the resistance and volts to the injectors both came back with in range. 5 volts dont remember the ohms reading but i do remember it was was reading good same as the fuel pump. The tank seems to be pressurized. I loosen thr cap and it rushes out like normal no difference in the amount and time, then i ususlaly hear when opening. I dont have the quick connect adaptor to test the pressure. I thought mayb the quick connect on the fuel pump assembly might be bad. People thwy hardly ever go bad but yet thats the only thing i havent replaced. So...... Im gonna order a new one and see if that happens to fix it. Its winter maintence time anyway not like i can tode rt now not with snow on the roads.

You don't need a HD mechanic you need someone with HD experience and in particular Sportster experience.

You have guessed and failed and already I assume spent out money, possibly wrongly.

The tank shouldn't be pressurised. Maybe the vent is blocked?

Have you also checked the 2 relays are good. You need to do that on the bench to make sure the contacts when closed are not high resistance.

Its an efi, the tank gets pressurized according to local HD dealer. And no, i checked the vent hose and the nipple where it connects. Even took tank off and washed the inside out and let it dry for 2-3 days before putting it back together. Ive checked fuses, the back of the fuse box, the motor grnd the second grnd, the battery. I hear the pump come on. I pulled the injectors out and tried starting a bike with them out to see if they did the computerized sequenced dance you know the spraying thing that it's supposed to be doing and it's not getting fuel it's got a brand new fuel rail feeder hose brand new fuel rail with no blocks brand new injectors uhm it could possibly maybe be one of the relays on the injectors there was a rubber boot in them that is no longer in them but that's as far as I know that's only for waterproofing cuz I hear it clicking the place and I can feel that the the connector is tight. And unfortunately I am in a place where I don't know anybody I'm not from here I came here with my wife and my children for a better life and don't know anybody out here. And this is a town where if you don't pretty much belong to a certain club you can't even get nobody to talk to you there's not a lot of independent riders out here especially independent riders that know anything about bikes they pretty much go to the dealer and I'm not going to pay that kind of money I'mma do it yourself kind of person

There is a vent hose that hangs down under the bike.
