Default New Mechanic Jitters

After a not so great experience with a stealer's service department I decided to take my baby to an independant shop for state inspection and tires. Damn was I nervous dropping it off. I felt a little better after I talked to the mechanic for a while. Seeing a several customs and well maintained Harleys waiting for service also put me more at ease. Although leaving this morning and not seeing her sitting in the garage caused me some anxiety. I never realized that I had developed such and "attachment" to Baby Blue.

Get yourself a Service Manual, motorcycle jack, a good set of torx and hex sockets, and the bike will never hafta leave the garage for service.

I've taken care of the 10,000 mile service stuff and probably would have taken care of the tires too, but it need a state inspection. Besides, I'm OK with service stuff, but I might be in need of someone to install new cams this winter. This gave me the opportunity to check him out before trusting him with that kind of work.

Ah, gotcha. I guess the State Inspection thing was under my radar. I have NO clue what that involves. We don't have that requirement here in TN.Tires I can understand. I did most of that work in my garage, but I did take the wheels and tires to an Indy for mounting and balancing, then came home and put the wheels back on the bike.

we had that requirement when i was in NC and it was easy crap to do, but you have to have a state licensed person do it, now that i am in FL. i do not need to worry about that
