The horn issue sounds like it has a bad ground. Take the horn off clean around the bolt area and reinstall.
im not sure why but someone decided to connect the relay of the horn with a fuse, not something stock but they did, and it was a bad fuse now the horn work.
hopefully in 2-3 weeks parts will start to arrive and I’ll be able to take it to the next level
So looks like the previous owner added a direct charging line to the battery and also piggyback the horn relay to the same positive line.
the charger had a fuse connection and a bad fuse inside.
so far the only change I did was to remove the battery charger and add some temporary insulation until I’ll get my heat shrink insulation.im Also thinking about turning the battery to the other side and extending the wires because right now the terminals are so close to the frame I’m sure with the vibrations it’s a matter of time before I’ll have a circuit short in my future
Good news and a big smile,
yesterday I changed the fuel filter going into the carburetor.
not sure how but that cause the carburetor float bowl to get stuck , after some wiggling and light taps on the bottom, it stopped shooting fuel out and the motorcycle worked great, did a short night drive and it was so much fun.
I've ran 20/50 in my primary but the bike shifts better with sportster primary fluid that you can buy at most bike shops. Some people say the regular oil foams up in the trans.
My advice to you is don't ordering parts until you know what's wrong. Sounds to me the bike was sitting a year or so maybe in the damp. I would just clean all connections, sound like you fixed the carb.
Finally I went for a long ride today, still have some minor issues to attend however, when I parked I noticed a small leak of what I suspect to be transmission/ primary fluid
So I looked online how to check the primary oil level and then I figured I don’t have the right tool to open the cover, it’s the Chevy / bow tie bolt and mine has been forced open several times and a bit worn off.
im looking online for the dedicated tool to open it
the leak appears to be from the bolt connecting the clutch cable to the primary, I tighten it a bit hopefully it won’t leak anymore.
