Yeah, I'm one of those people who aren't particularly fond of windshields on the Sportster line.. ( did I put that delicately enough? ) but only for looks, I do recognize their value at longer hikes. So I'm looking for something I can live with on my Nightster and so far the Flyscreen from National Cycles is the most unobtrusive and actually kind of cool looking in a cutsey way that I've been able to find. However...since the Flyscreen really is very tiny I'm curious if anyone has any experience with it? Is it strictly cosmetic or does it provide any (noticeable) shielding at hiway speeds? Any thoughts appreciated!

not trying to sound like an a$$, but it kinda looks like the thing on the G/F's old bike, a Buell. That thing did NOTHING as far as....well..... just did NOTHING.
The Nightster is a sweet ride. I am sure you are smiling all of the time. Teeth make a he!! of a bug filter...
You have me thinking, it hurts but I'll bear thru. Instead of a plastic screen I am going to try to make a screen out of wire mesh. I've always hated the buffeting created by regular windshields, but the mesh would knock that back a bunch while still protecting against bugs and birds. Thanks for the kickstart!

Wouldnât a mesh demolish the bugs and send all the innards right into your face/torso?

I don't think they don't have enough weight to be able to slam into the mesh and be cut up and shot thru. Maybe the bigger ones. but they still have hard bodies that would resist it.
As to the person creating the mesh screen, that's a neat idea.

best luck....
No offense taken More than bugs I'm really interested to see if anyone has any real experience with the shield as far as shielding off any wind since to me it looks too small to really get any wind at all off of you, but I saw a post somewhere a while back in some other forum where some dude was saying that cruising at 70mph with this shield supposedly felt a lot closer to 40mph, which can be pretty useful at times if true. I just have a hard time believing it and I can't find the post/forum where I found that comment anymore....
