Default Crossover Pipe

Received with the heat shield missing and considering options. There's a fair amount of burnt on residue so I was deciding between taking steel wool to it/ wrapping it/hitting it with high-temp flat black/replacing it.
Keeping some heat off my leg and the carb is always a good thing
EBay replacement is $30

I'd spend $30 on the original heat shield. I painted all of mine with stove paint, looks really good. I did not sand the chrome so it can easily be stripped back to original.

buy the shield, it has an air gap and will be cooler than wrap.
also get the custom longer idle screw, it has a knurled **** and makes it easy to adjust under the hot shield.
your fingers will thank you.

Though I think a long handles philips head screwdriver would work too

You can buy it direct from CV Performance:

Luck for you, you live in New Mexico. To get carb parts sent into Kalifornia, I had to send them to my sister in Missouri, and then she mailed them to me.

That's the spirit! You definitely got some good karma from this gesture.
