Default Do I have S.E. IV?

Im new to Harley's and recently bought a 2008 XL1200N. The guy I bought it from said that the person who originally bought the bike back in 08 had a stage IV screaming eagle kit installed. How can I tell if this bike actually has a stage IV kit?

Harley does not make a Stage IV for Sportster's.

You have a stock bike with a custom air cleaner.

If you did you would have different head & jugs.

Enjoy the ride and unless the seller provides paperwork with the bike VIN on it showing any upgrades from a recognized shop you probably do not have any upgrades.

Welcome to the Forum by the way, the official greeter may be along and provide valuable guidance.

NOTE:
The above information, while credible, is worth what you paid for it and should not be considered gospel.
Do due diligence, research and have a H-D Field Service Manual before working on your bike.
You will probably have many opinions and suggestions presented; make sure you research the person providing the helpful information as there are some who provide good information that is useful and some who speak out of other orifices with gibberish. You will figure out this quickly.

Thats interesting to hear. I have the tuner that they used during whatever kit they installed. Maybe that helps ID what's in there?

Mostly likely just a tuner for the “more” open air intake and exhaust stage I / 1 equivalent, that’s not SE parts you have, sporty are limited no stage IV kits from SE

stage IV / 4 in Harley speak is your stage one, plus cams, bigger bore pistons, head work, and FI TB would be bigger, all of still on the Mild side since its factory warranty and EPA compliant.
non of that is evident on your 1200.

a great mod for the Sport Is 1250/75 kit, if you ever want to get to to that point.

I guess I've been "had" with this. Either way Im happy with the bike and was the only one in the colors I wanted in my area.

It looks clean and not abused, so unless you paid like crazy money, enjoy it

A kit like that is way more bang for the buck then anything SE can ever hope to achieve, be careful you can double the buy in and still have a 2008 motorcycle, but it will be way more fun when you twist the go grip,

I'm going to go along with what the others have said, and suggest you have a stage 1 on the bike, which is the basic upgrade that almost every Harley gets before it leaves the dealership.

Stage 1 is a high flow air filter, a set of high flow slip on mufflers, and a tuner.

Welcome from NC, and a nice addition.

I could be wrong, but I think your state protects you from fraud or any misrepresentations on purchases, if you want to go that route.
