Yes. I have a history of cross threading fasteners (including lug nuts more than once) so when it feels tight I tend to not go much harder. I went to attach the positive lead on the multi meter and the cable moved. It was obviously not as tight as I thought it was.

Try this. When you go to install a nut or bolt that is righty tighty /clickwise to tighten. Turn it counter clockwise and you will normally feel it drop just a touch. That normally means that you have found the starting points of the threads. Then righty tighty until it's tight.
