I was just reading this thread and saw a hdforums sponsor...

www.WheelRepairtn.com

Given your geographical location, and limited riding season, personally, I would go with the shortest amount of downtime. But then, I would do that here and I ride 12 month a year.

As far as the chome repair, there is always ChromeMasters. OCC seems to like their work. They are also in Nashville. I've never been inside, but I've rode past the place..WHAT A DUMP!! But, I guess they do good work.

I just ordered the new chrome spoke wheel today. Now my bike will be down for about a week. Thats not good this time of year in michigan, but I just couldn't bring my self to put on the old pitted wheel.
I always wanted a spoke rear wheel, now I will find out if it's worth it.
After I spend some time on it, I will up date on how it worked out.

Thanks to all of you for your advice...Gary.

Good choice on the spokes. My bike has spokes and my wife rides a Sporty with spokes. Cleaning isn't really that bid of a deal. For that matter, if I had solid wheels I'd still spend the time it takes to keep them clean. So the spokes may take me an extra 10 minutes every couple of weeks, big deal.

I just put a spoked wheel on the back. As for cleaning I think its easier than cleaning the rough cast part of the stock mags.

I'm liking the solid wheel now...hope to upgrade to a fatter end and custom wheel someday. Love the spokes on the front though!
