Have to tune with slip ons only?
Buddy has a 07 XL 883 and is wanting more noise. Looking at the VH Short shots as well as some Cycle Shack slip ons.... The slip ons are alot cheaper obviously...but the real question is tuning... Do you have to retune the EFI for slip ons only? Every dealer says something different. I told him I would go with pipes, AC and tuner all at once...but I think he is on a budget and wanting more sound is his only concern. I am not familiar with Sportys at all, so thought I would post it on here.

Mine has been great withjust slip-ons and nothing else,thedealer may have been thrown off when you said "pipes" as that normally refers to a complete system with headers and mufflers.
You will have to tune when & if you do a free flow air cleaner.

You don't HAVE to. The EFI bikes run lean from the factory, though, just to make the emissions people happy. DynoJet even has a map for an all stock bike on their Power Commander to make them run a bit more rich.
