I ordered some sweet V&H Straightshot slip-on's from Eastern Performance today ($220 and free shipping). I've been holding off since it was a "want" not a "need". But after hearing what they sound like on a Sporty, I couldn't resist. Plus Dad and Dave started making me raise my hand when I started my bike up. Apparently stock pipes are a little hard to hear over SEII and V&H Straights. (Now I have to start saving AGAIN for new mountain bike shocks.)
Ona side note,
Dave bought his V&H from the local dealer yesterday ($259 and change). I thought they were pretty sweet, so I went down today to buy a pair. Guess what, he bought the last set, but they'd be more than willing to order some for me. (The arrogant “chrome dude didn’t even acknowledge my presence until my dad walked in.)
Sorry, I'm a bit annoyed with the local dealership. They recently "upgraded" to a new store, which carries FAR more overpriced apparel than basic parts. And in my opinion, they let go of all the good employees, aka people who knew what they were talking about and didn’t have an attitude.
There are only two parts guys left that know what they're talking about, the rest can look up part numbers in a catalog and punch numbers in a computer. (I’m mechanically inept, but even I can do that!) Granted everyone has to start somewhere, but the local dealer has sent a clear message to local riders, saying "I'll sell you a bike, but I'm not going to provide one ounce of customer service after the sale." The last time I needed an AIR FILTER it took over a WEEK to get on in! WTF? I have a 07 Sporty, not exactly a rare bike. Simple stuff like that should be in stock, I'd let it slip but it also took 3 weeks to get O-rings for the breather.
The sales guys there are top notch, can’t say one bad thing about any of them. My immediate family has purchased 4 bikes there, to bad the after market service sucks so bad.
Congratulations. The guy down the street has a 06 883C Sporty with straightshot slip ons and it sounds fantastic. I bet you are gonna fall in love with the sound.
I rode Dave's today with the V&H slip-ons... damn that sounded NICE! The rumble and feel of the engine, WOW! Good thing I've saved up some sick time, I have a feeling I'm going to"miss" my off ramp and end up in Eastern Idaho!

A Harley isn't a Harley, until you ditch the stock pipes.
Hell yea, you can say that again.
The Street Bob sounded like a damn economy car until the pipes were put on, now the economy carsstay the hell out of the way.
