I am wanting to put 8" apes on my 07 883R and was wanting to know besides the brake line what else do I need to change or will the stock cables and wireing work? The stock handlebars are have about a 4" rise. Also if anyone has done this before how much longer does the brake line and cables have to be? Thanks for any help.
Ape hangers are the **** on a sportster! You will probably have to replace both throttle lines, front brake line, clutch line, and extend the wireing. Or at least with 10" apes you do, I would guess with 8" apes you would also, I don't think there is that much give in the factory parts/routing to make it work without replacing them.
You will need to replace all cables and wiring. It will cost more in cables than you paid for the new bars. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like the look, go with it. Check out the signature picture.
