Default Oil check

Hi Guys, i am a new and (very) happy 1992 Sportster 1200 cc owner and i cant believe it !! Is one of those things thati have always wanted and i finally have it...
Just a few questions, i keep reading about engine oil, primary andtransimision oil, just want to know; i have and idea of how to check engine oil but what the hell or how the hell i can check primary and gear oil ???
If somebody can explain this to me please because i just want to make sure nothing goes wrong with my new toy....

Default RE: Oil check

There is a detail in the service manual on checking the Tranny/Primary oil level but it's not really necessary.. Unless your case is leaking oil there is really no need to check the fluid level. Simply drain and refill with 1 quart every 5000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.
