This winter I am looking to rewire my handle bars. I want to run all the wires inside the bars. Someone mentioned that by drilling the bars yourself it weakens them. Is this true, if it is do thats sell drag bars predrilled? If it does not weaken the bars what are the best drill holes to make?
My 32" wide 1-1/4 inch diameter drags from "Bully" came drilled and dimpled. Fit great in theOEM SportaterCustom risers and looks mean in addition to giving a bit of extra stability.
I've drilled many sets of bars, never had any problems. I use a 7/16 drill bit at each end of the opening an the use a small cut off wheel in my die grinder to cut out between the holes, then use a rotary file in the grinder to smooth the inner edges. Works great and only takes a short time to do.
