Speedo problems
Sometimes the wife complains that her speedo is going crazy on her 2000 sporty. One minute its running normal and the next it reads only half the actual speed she is travelling. The problem is intermittent. Any ideas?

I would start with the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Make sure it hase a clean/tight connection to the ICM, if it is then replacing the VSS sensor would be the next step.

have the exact same problem, but after the bike is turned off and back on its fine again. Mine usually runs 20 mph under when that problem occured, she dosent have a fairing like mine on hers does she? the odometer clear button on the back of the speedometer was pushed down against the fairings back plate and i thought that was causing the problem but i guess not. in the off chance she has the fairing taller spacers fixed that problem.

mine did the same thing, turning it off and back on would clear it up. It didn't start till i had the tach installed by the dealer. I have no idea how to correct it, I just lived with it as it didn't happen that much.
