Default Flame Grip Installation

I saw some flame grips at the HD shop. ANyone know how difficult to install. Is it pretty straight forward or do I need the Steelership to install?

If you're talking about the HD flame grips, it's a piece of cake. They come with instructions, and even a RUB can do it (did you like that Skip?)

Seriously, nothing to it, you have to loosen up the clamps on both handlebars, (2 screws each), and slide the new ones on. You may have to cut off the old one on the left side with a razor blade as it is often glued on. The one on the right will require you to loosen the throttle cable a little bit by adjusting the tension, but it's easy enough and with a little common sense you'll figure it out.

It is pretty easy to do. I put a set of heated grips on a couple weeks ago. Mac is correct, it's pretty much common sense on the throttle side, Just reverse what you do when disconnecting the throttle cables. I did have to cut off the left side.

YOU DONT HAVE TO CUT OFF GRIPS!!!!! Just pry a small flat head screwdriver under the grip, and spray some carb cleaner under there. Youll be able to twist the grip off in just a few seconds.

I have the same grips. HOT looking and feel great.
If you do it yourself BeCarefull on the throttle side the two cables have two tiny [ real fukin small ] brass freules [spelling] on the cable ends. I can alomost guaranty your gona drop one. I did and it took the MRS. 15 minutes to find it.
NOTE ; do the change over a white bed sheet [ just don't let her see] this way you can find all the stuff your going to drop

I've been thinking about getting the same grips. Let's see pics when you're done.

Y'all know enough of me by now that I ain't gonna knock anybody for chroming out their sleds. But did y'all know that I once had fancy chrome grips on my Sloptail? Yup, I did.

After about a year of my usual riding I noticed several things: One, chrome is hot in summer (brutal in Texas), and cold in winter (yeah we have some winter in Texas). Two, the sweat from my hands started causing the chrome to look cloudy. Didn't like the chrome looking bad. If ya gotta have chrome, ya gotta take care of it!

So being the practical sort, I went whole hog, replaced the risers, made some stainless handlebars, added an internal throttle, and got rid of all the wires. Oh yeah, the grips: I found some replica Anderson grips - not comfortable. Next, some replica waffle grips - fantastic on the comfort, but ozone eats 'em up. Then I found some plain smooth grips, stock HD from the late 60s - early 70s. Comfortable, and they last.
