Nope. If it doesn't have the little California icon in the dealer's parts book, it isn't legal for a California dealer to install it.

Well that's certainly lame.
As is the entire state of Kalifornia. Leading the way in destroying the American way of life.
No madder were you live there are always the good the bad and the ugly. I hate winter and not being able to ride but all the other stuff makes up for that so I just deal with it. Dale have you tried to trade your Sporster for a R/K or a E/G?
I grew up in the PRC (People's Republic of California). I left 2 days after I graduated High School.
Oh, you guys are going to be so safe now that there is a law requiring guns to ID stamp bullet casings. Gosh, the warm feelings of contentment just flow out.
Vote. If for some reason, you find that voting makes absolutely no difference then vote with your feet. Arkansas is full of people who escaped from the PRC.

Nah. It's financed, so I'm upside down on the loan. But the chick is starting to talk about taking some longer trips on the bike, so eventually I'll probably want to.
What I'd want is a 2007 or later FLH-series bike. I'd want the 96ci engine and six-speed tranny. So, I need to keep the sportster for another season, throw money at it to pay it down, then see what I can get for it on HDTrader.com next year.
I'm thinking that next September/October I might be able to pick up a 2007 FLH for a decent price.
'Seems like every time I turn on the tv or flip through a magazine there's a new custom bike shop in CA. However, from what I hear, most of the bikes producedwouldn't bestreet legal there. Not sure about that, though. I did my stage I and pipes myself and they are loud as %@#*. Just how I wanted it. Fortunately, here in south Alabama, no state mucky muck is going to tell you what you can and can't do with your bike. BTW, no vehicle I've ever owned has been near a smog test station. California's going to save the world.
