Thought it was coming from my front wheel but after crusing down the road with the clutch pulled in it stopped seems to be my tranny. I changed the tranny oil about 2000K ago could it be from it being cold or do you think I have lost some fluids...? I have not seen any oil drops at home or work where I park it. Do you find it gets louder the colder it gets...? it has been 29 degrees in the mornings here
Just been reading some older posts sounds like what I am hearing is the sewijng machine sounds...I will check my lube level just to be sure and when I get to the 10k I will take it for a service and get the chain checked and brakes tires etc. I can do the fluids but don't have all the skills for the other stuff
My 883 has always had the Sportster sewing machine sound, but it does seem to have more of a ticking noise to it lately. On my last few ridesthe temps have only been in the 40's. I realize these Sportster engines are noisy by nature, but I was starting to think they are a little noisier in thecolder temps. Just curious what others with noisy Sportsters experience.
Nick...my engine makes a noise like a police siren when I'm riding her...quite unerving....btw, never let the Yanks knowyou don't have the skills....they'll start saying we didn't invent everything.

LOL I guess by skills I meant experience...if I had the equipment and the money to replace stuff whilst learning to fix it I am sure I could....though from the price of dealer services I guess the money don't matter
I have a little over 8k on her now maybe that noise has always been there and now I am just picking it out but it sounds like its normal from all I have read
