I think I'm really going to have to consider a windshield for next season for my Nighster. But I would like it to be detachable so I can ride with or withoutit. What, if any, is the difference between "quick release" and "detachable" ? Also, my 1200N is a 2008. If I see windshields on ebay, etc., will windshields that were on older models fit? Especially older than 2004 when I guess some things changed?
Any and all suggestions appreciated. And I know, I know ... a windshield on a Nightster ... ugh ... but I just may have to on long highway trips.
No difference with H-D. Both terms are used in the product description. I ordered the compact standard height windshield (58063-04) yesterday from Zanotti's. It is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. $285.85 including shipping.Much better than the $339.95 price + tax if purchased at the local dealer.
Thanks VCBH .. I think I found their website, but it looks like all bikes, not parts? I didn't see an online catalog. If /when you get pics, please post.
From Zanotti's main page, select "Shop Online/Price Quote", then select "Shopping Care/Price Quote". This will open another window within which you can key in the part number. When you do that the price will appear. Key in the quantity and hit the "Add to Car" icon. That will give you the price including shipping. Here is the photo from the H-D website.
I don't like them either but I bought one for long road trips. This one from NationalCycle is only $89 and worked great, goes on and comes off easy, and doesn't look too bad (for a windshield)
Hi werbeck, thanks for the info. I assume for that price they are not "quick detachable" ? But if they go on and off fairly easy, don't think you can't beat the price. I will check them out!
Windshield delivered today. Kudos to Zanotti for the quick turnaround. Installed quickly and easily. I think the size of the compact standard H-D windshield looks good in proportion to my Nighty. Mid-70's and sunny today and a nice ride to and from work, but mid-50's and rain tomorrow. I guess I will have to wait until Friday or Saturday to give it a test. I like the purchase decision, and I assume it will be reinforced when riding in the cold and at highway speeds.
