Decals look good but not on the tank
already did that and man did it look chessey
Just for thought look into trying the harley stick on gas cap medallion or timing cover
just my .02$
And thats what I did not want to hear[:@]
Cheezy? That sucks. I already have a skull gas cap to go with my 20 other skulls. I just came back from the dealer where there was a few bikes customed out by purpleharley.com and they looked great. The decals looked like a custom paint job. Check out the website. They are local here in my town. If anything, I still want them off because a solid black tank would look better to me as well.
Before we got our Harleys, my hubby had some decals from purpleharley.com on his tank and front fender and they looked awesome .. looked like custom paint job ... I had some on my Suzuki tank ... and while not quite as cool looking as hubby's (different design), they looked pretty good as well. And yes, if you really hate them, they do come off with the hair dryer and floss / fishing line, same as when you take the original logo off. In fact, I took off the first ones I got from purple harley because I didn't like the color I had picked, and so bought the same design but different color and had to go through that whole step.
I've been considering doing something on my current bike, but because I like the harley name and pinstriping on the tank, maybe I'll just do some accents elsewhere on the bike.
Well here it is, I removed the red lettered logo and I like the look a lot better. Now I am all black and chrome. I think I am going to attempt to paint the lettering black on the medallions and put them on my Black and chrome Dodge Ram. There is a perfect spot on the front and rear bumpers.
hey tide? Was there any type of clear coat over your decal? I just looked at my 04 custom (wanting to do the same) and noticed the decal is covered??? Did you go thru that?

The medallion itself looks clearcoated but its not clearcoated to the bike. It came off easily with fishing line andgoo gone. You cannot tell the medallion was ever there. One word of advice: Try to remove the sticky residue without chemicals first. Get off as much as you can before using the goo gone. Once you cannot get any more off, then apply the goo gone and rub with a soft cloth. The residue is very thick and if you use goo gone on the thick stuff, it takes a long time to get it all off. The first side took about 45 minutes, The second side was about 15 minutes because I removed most of it before the chemical got it all sticky
I don't have a medallion, mine has the harley-davidson logo in red. Did you heat your's up, or just run the line against the tank?
Whoah.... Mine was a medallion. It came off the same as some people removed the reflectors. I ran a fishing line between the medallion and the tank. If yours is a decal logo, I have no idea how to do that.
