The "Osram Silverstar" bulb is a Eurpoean version of the Sylvania Silverstar sold here in the states. The Osram bulb is definately better than the Sylvania bulb and the Osram version is truely vibration rated. They are hard to find here other than from a distributor that imports them from overseas. From what I understand, they do not meet federal regulations in the states, so they can be hard to get.
They dostill have the typical high current draw, like the Sylvania Silverstar.
The 411 I read on the Osram bulbs indicated they didn't have the large electrical draw, but as you said, it's Eurpoean (German actually) and the information was a bit confusing. I guess something got lost in the translation between German and English. I might have a way to get my hands on one of these bulbs (neighbor is a Motorcycle Cop). If I can, I'll get one just to give it a try.
I can't find the PIAA blubs anywhere here locally. I may just buy a regular H4 blub until I can locate a better alternative. I'm not really comfortable taking a long time with this, since my headlight redundancy is now gone.
