Default Secret Combination?

This bike I bought has the HD "Swingback" Air Cleaner Cover and wanted to check the filter. It doesn't have the two mounting screws that are described in the shop manual. I thought about just giving it a yank, but there's nothing to grab hold of and I'd most likely break something if I did. I considered getting the crowbar out and figured it was probably better to ask for expert advice. What's the "secret?"

PS: It's not actually a "standard" HD item, but part of the Screaming Eagle High FLow Air Cleaner Kit. Go figure.

Eureka! The "mystery" is solved, thanks to leonel.

I think you remove the black HD logo and the screws are underneath.

Yup, you got it Lothar. It sure wasn't very obvious; it looked like the raised letters were cast into the cover. After an off-line message with leonel, I went back and dug at it with my fingernail, and it lifted off. It's held on there with some kind of hard plastic velcro. (Batteries and instructions not included).

Thats a cool looking air cleaner cover. I had thought about going with that unit myself. Can you post a picture or two of what it looks like on your bike?[sm=Flahssssss.gif]

Well, it's not small, but it really doesn't get in my way. I believe it's part of Screaming Eagle's "High Flow" kit. You can buy the "Swingback" items separately (A/C, timing cover, and clutch cover) or as a complete set from Harley. I bought the bike used and it had two of the items, but not the one for the clutch. You can sort of see it in photo 06 in my photo gallery on here.

ronn39, i found the part in the harley catalog, but it mentions that it needs an adapter of some sort? part #29848-04

I'm wondering if this is the rubber part that offsets the air filter from the cover. Does your have anything special?
