I just got the HD card about 3 weeks ago(my other cards were p_issin me off). Yeah, the "reward" is pretty weak, 1 centon the dollar(translated to Harley Chrome valueis about 0.0025cents/dollar)
I don't believe in credit cards either.......But I have just one from my bank and IF I use it, I pay it off instantly.
I use my debit card for just about everything-almost never carry cash-all my fixed expenses are auto deduct from my checking account.....I like my life simple and never want to ever lick a stamp or write a check again if I can.
Guess I'm old fashion, but I don't believe in credit cards....
I don't buy anything unless it's a cash (or check) transaction...
I was the same way. Then I began using my State Farm Visa for everything I could. I always pay it off every month so there is no interest to pay. This allows me to see at a glance where a lot of my money goes each month.
I also used the card to buy both of my last two bikes. And then before a payment was due I transferred the balance to a no interest credit card. So I make minimum payments on the cards and keep my money in CDs earning interest instead of paying it. It would have been even better 25 years ago when banks were paying double digit interest. And when that0% rate is about to expire, I transfer those amounts to new 0% cards.
In addition, the State Farm 'reward' paid about 80% of my homeowners insurance last year. I have a Harley Visa now also.
