Hi, I was taking a look at the Motherwell for the Nightster http://www.motherwellproducts.com/Pr...Show=TechSpecs... anyone using that one/seen it installed? I like the price, but since it appears to only mount directly on the fender, fear itmay not be stable...

Thanks,

Beth

This docking kit is what you need if you don't intend to use saddlebags. Installation involves removing the four fender bolts, one side at a time, and installing the docking hardware with the new bolts provided. It's an easy install, relatively speaking, however the brake/indicator lamps may get in the way when working with the rear bolts unless you have the right tools.

Question: I'm trying to install it on my wife's 08 Nightster right now. The signal do get in the way of the back bolts but got them installed.

The front ones are what's getting me. They spin and I can't find a wrench that fits plus the back is a bitch to get too. The new nut is a 1/2 but that won't fit the old one. What did you use to hold it in place while turning?

Default detachable rack

I don't have the Harley version, I bought the Motherwell black one as shown in above thread, very easy to mount, remove screw for seat and remove screw on fender( solo seat), put rack over hole, reinstall seat screw and reinstall fender screw using their supplied longer screw and you are set... Capacity is 10 pounds, haven't had a load on it yet, paid about $68 bucks, didn't need to buy a docking hardware, so I got a rack and maybe 10 cases of beer for the price of a Harley rack, it looks good too.

I got it. It's a 1/2" same as the replacement you just need a very thin head socket/wrench to get it on the nut where its located.

I'm sure what you bought is very attractive. Thanks for the response.

Hey guys.. I just bought the quick release sissy bar and docking hardware kit 53529-04 but am skeptical about putting it on myself. The instructions call for Loctite 243 and sealant. Is this stuff really necessary?

This is also my first brand new Harley so I am babying the crap out of it. I have never done any work on a bike myself but know how to use a screwdriver. Is this the kind of thing I should have someone else do or can I handle it?
