mine were un usable above 35 mph on my 2003 883C I used to remember riding along at 70 and watching them "appear" to spin around in a circle... oh those were the days

One of the reasons I sold my 02 custom was the mirror problem also... From stock to short stems back to stock to handle bar changes etc.. Nothing seemed to help.. I now have a standard old 1999 XLH 883 with Rams and have no problem with vibrating mirrors... I kinda think its related to the rake of the front end of the bike and the larger, narrow front wheel contributing to the shake.. be it idle or highway speeds the mirrors were so bad they were what I considered usless except for night riding and seeing light coming from behind.. Good luck on finding a solution, I never did..

My vibration quit being real bad when I swapped from convex(objects are closer than they appear) to standard flat glass mirrors. It helped somewhat and I can only guess it might because the image became real world size so it seemed as if the image was moving less. If that makes any sense. The convex makes the image smaller so the same vibration seems to make it move farther.

Rubbers are for bikes? Some folks may think an 04 and up is a downgrade. They are heavier and slower.
*shrugs*

I've always believed that a good rider makes the difference more than a bike's raw power.

Just goes with the territory.......

The only Harley I own (or have ever owned) in which you could actually use the mirrors for more than a general idea of what is behind you is my Softail, with it's counter-balanced engine.

Almost shocking to look in the mirrors at speed and see an almost clear view...

That could have been the reason I noticed so much improvment in these last mirrors, they are flat. Whatever the reason, its all the difference in the world.

~BTW~ a little locktight will stop your stems from spinning

Here's a pic of my '01 Sporty; I used Dyna bars, Poly riser mounts from HD and welded a solid steel bar into each end of the handlebars; dramatic improvement in handlebar vibes and mirror usability...bike also had a 100hp 1200 with T-Storm heads and cams by HQ. Sure miss it.....

It's not the Custom, but the Buck Horn bars on the 03 Hugger are not that bad at speed. Above an idle they stabilize.

Just a thought.

Which manf/model has the FLAT ones? Do they fit stock, or do I need adapters of some sort.

Thanks
