Default Changing Primary cover

I am changing my primary from a powder coated one to chrome. The one I got came from ebay without instructions. So I am having some trouble, mainly with getting the clutch cable disconnected and the stud in the bottom of the primary (tensioner?) Any tricks and tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

PM pococj, Skip will know. It matters if is just a "cover" or actual "case" so be ready to tell him that.

I am actually replacing the primary cover, not just covering it up. the problem I am having is that I can't seem to figure out how to disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch pack and I'm not real sure on the proper procedure for removing the primary chain tensioner.

On the left side , remove Derby cover. Small spring and "bolt" on center shaft inside.. As you screw out the bolt count the complete turns it takes to get it out. Then the clutch cable goes over and around center shaft to be removed. cable then screws out of the cover. When you re-install have anew "o" ring to go between cable end and cover. Write down how many truns it took to remove spring screw. When re-installing this procedure will have clutch very close to where it was for adjustment and tension on the spring. You need to check the DIY section on Main page, TCSTD or pococj can be invaluable members of this board to you. TCSTD I think is still the Mod for DIY and will be able to give you very specific instructions or where to get them.
