I don't post a whole lot but I've been drinking a little and just thought about it, I bought my Nightster because I saw one on the road and fell in love with it. Did a little research online and figured out that I could afford one, then went to the dealer and lucked out that they had the olive green one that I wanted. I bought it because I like it the way it is. My only complaint is that is doesn't sound quite good enough for me, I would like it to be a little louder. But am I the only person who bought a Harley because they like it the way it was? I want it to be louder but I do not want different looking pipes because I think the ones on it look so good. I don't want to change a single thing on it. Am I the only person in the world who feels this way????? And I did add a passenger pillion, but not for looks, that was just so my girl could ride with me, I like it better without it
Great looking bike...I bought the same one for the same reason. I did, however, change the pipes to V/H Black Shortshots. I did a few smaller mods as well, but for the most part, it is the Nightster. I don't know for sure, but there has to be a post on here somewhere where people talk about removing a baffle in the pipes or drilling holes or something to make it louder. HD put some quiet ones on that bike for sure.
Hey man, the guy designed this bike to look a certain way. I agree with you, don't screw it up by tricking it out too much. I have to tell you though that I did have to get forward controls, but at least I was able to get the black forward controls...
Hey, have you seen the black pipes they came out with a couple months ago? They look sweet. I can't bring myself to get them because I spent too many years on a busy road cursing bikes that were so loud the rattled my windows...LOL...
Yes I have seen the black pipes, and I agree, they do look good. And I thought about foward controls too, but not for the look, just for comfort, but I think I am getting used to the mids. And I don't want LOUD pipes, just something that sounds more like a harley lol. But I am gonna do more research on making the stock pipes sound a little better. And I know I have cursed a couple really loud bikes that passed me and scared the crap out of me too lol
you can go to your dealer or craigslist or ebay and buy a pair of "takeoffs" which is stock pipes left there by someone who changed to a different type. then you can mess with these, like drilling them to change your sound, and if you like it, re-sell your original stock pipes to someone else who needs em. if done right you can break even or make a profit.
V&H Short Shots or Side Shots. Mini Apes or Drag bars. Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather. Dealership flash or powercommander with the Air Cleaner. Just my two cents.
