R.U.B.s are those guys (or gals) you see showing up to their local H.O.G. chapter meeting dressed in full leathers while stepping outta their shiney S.U.V. that's covered in HD stickers and such....
These damn SUVs with the 3 foot widebar and shield sticker always take all the parking at the dealer when they have events. The motorcycles all have to look for parking because the possers all have to park their trucks up front. How sad is it they wont ride their motorcycle to a motorcycle event....
[align=left]This board is filled with them. about 95% are RUBS.

Guys, RUBs dont ride Sportsters. They never have and never will. RUBS would not be cought dead on a bike that cost $10K or less! The RUBS seem to ride the $30K+customs, with the S&S 124. My buddy had a 99 fatboy, custom paint and tons of chrome, with 2,000 miles on it. He is a RUB.
I keep playing the Loto, I want to be a R.U.B.; so what about the guy who lives next door to me? I don't think he ever rode a bike in his life. He has all of the Harley stickers on his truck and wears Harley t-shirts and hats. I do get a good laugh when I ride up and he just stands there like a 5 year old looking into a toy store. Poser?
"Poser?"....I would think absolutely,.....Or he could be living beyond his means to afford a bike. Anyways,he helping to keep HD in business by buying those over-priced shirts, hats, and stickers.
I havesome possible definitions of a RUB. First anyone that is a Hamster is definitley a RUB. Secondly anyone who can hardly ride their current motorcycle and wantto either make theirs faster than their buddies or are looking to buy one that is faster then their buddies.Lastly they just have to have the newest creation after putting a pile of money in their current ride because their current ride is "so last year".
The term RUB has been around for quite some time. It is not only about income, rub is a combination of several different things. Money, Bike, Miles(or lack of), attire (HD to the max, all new and no bugs), etc... Not one of these things makes you a rub. And if you are one fine, if not fine. We can yammer about it all day, but the fact of the matter is, if you see one you willknow it.
Never seen a RUB buy/keep a Sporty more than six months. It just doesn't fit their image. Most of them that I've seenbuy a big Harley that they can't handle safely (when they ought to start with a Buell Blast). Lots of nice RUBS, but I avoid them like the plague on group rides.
There is one great thing about RUBS: they supply the market with a lot of good used bikes that the rest of us can enjoy.
i actally have a cousin that is a rub(or maybe i should say he was a rub,hes getting divorced from the bread winner of the 2)hes been through 6 harleys in 2 1/2 years..started with a sportster, then a wide glide, then a street glide, then another wide glide, then another street glide, now a soft tail..now he is talkin about selling his softail and buying a nightster,he did ride quite a bit until the divorce, but now has his kids on the weekends..so its a little bit harder to get out..so maybe he is an ex-rub
