I remember reading somewhere that you can drill more holes down along the se2 baffles to get it a little louder than reg se2

I've thought about pulling them out of my stocks. Is this a bad idea?
You have to use a hole saw to remove them from stock pipes. You would be better off buying new slip ons or just drilling a hole in your stock ones. Personally I would not waste my time messing with the stock pipes.

Here’s what I did when I had my 05. I pulled the baffles out and didn’t like the sound. It was too tinny. The loss in torque was obvious as well. I cut the tube part of the baffle right behind the indented part. (about half way) Then I reshaped the end in a half moon to keep some back-pressure. I put them back in and it was a whole new bike. The sound was loud and crisp, but not too loud. I noticed a big difference in performance on the top end, and still kept good low end torque. Remember, it’s a trade-off, more flow equals higher, faster revs, at the cost of loosing low end torque.

They're easy to remove...My opinion? the bike's gonna lose power and sound loud but annoying.
Check out "ThunderMonster Performance Baffles". Put a set in my Straightshots and they sound and perform excellent.
