I want to take the baffles out of my V&H ovals to drill more holes in them. I found two screws attaching them, one on the bottom, and one on the inside. After removing both screws, the bastids still won't come out! I don't want to start beatin or pryin on em, cause I'll bugger em all up. If I crank the bike with the screws out, will the baffles blow out of the pipe ?
Can someone please advise me what to do ?
Thanks !!
I don't know, but the Rush baffles come out easier if the bike is running as the exhaust seems to help get the baffles out and keeps the packing from bunching up as much. The fiberglass packing comes out very easy with the exhaust pushing the packing.
I heard some commentary about it too Steve. Taggging this thread for a more definite answer though since I want to pop mine too for some all-too-routine Florida rust maintenance.
The V&H Oval baffles will come out, there just stuck.I've had mine out.Get a pair of channle lock plires and a rag in the jaws so not to scratch the pipes and pull.
The baffles will come out.The baffles are prone to rust.
I bought a set of ovals and the PO modified the baffles.I dont think you will gain anything other than changing the sound.I had to replace the baffles, because of the modification they cracked. While removing them, there was a ton of rust in the pipes.
Even the new baffles are starting to rust.
I will be selling these along with the SE slipons I have.
do this(i did on my v&h)....take the two screws out, start the bike, rev it til it comes out.....THEN, cut off the front cup .... cut out about 4" of the middle perforated tube....weld the front cup back on....what youve done is shorten the baffle without screwin it up....i looked for power there, found sound...it gets real loud if you take off more than 6"...repack and slide em back in(hint, start the bike and get the pipes hot), then slide the cool new baffle into place
