Default O-Ring

Hi new here. Last week i bought a 1200 sport 1998 with 21000 miles at a bank auction. they rode it there from the harley shop 3 miles away. it been sitting at the harley shop sence may. they said they had trouble keeping it running they thought it might be old gas.anyway the harley shop told them it needs a o-ring. would anybody know what that would be on the bike. plus on the tach the engine light is on. they only started it for about 30 sec. at the auction. i havent started it at home yet because of the engine light. the oil light went out. so my question is what o-ring are they talking about and what does the engine light mean. any help would be appreciated. thank you steve

I'm no expert, but on most Sportsters, when the oil light goes out after you start it, that's a very good sign. If it stays on, you might be in big trouble.

As to the O ring, since you bought it at a bank auction, I'll assume you got it at a pretty good price and it would certainly be worth your while to take it back to that shop that had it and give it a thorough check up.
