A couple of years ago. I was at alight chating with a friend who had a Yamaha 850 special. Some bald dude with a little black convertible (audi TT) pulled up nexto us. Just when the light turned green a horrible scraping/grinding noise came from the car. My friend on the 850 had taken off & then the car shot forwarwd. I then made the connection thatthe audihad been reving his little engine. By the other side of the intersection I had caught up to him & the poor guy was whaling on his audi as best he could but it just couldn't take a Sportster.
Later on my friend asked if I had stalled at the light (Harley stall joke).
My 883R has great acceleration when i need it. the other day a truck pulled out in front of me, i nailed it and shot past him. Thank goodness for my peppy engine
You have an 883R? good choice! Im whole-heartedly jealous, What color?

well ric27 my boyfriends Tri Daytona 675 will leave my sportster in a cloud of exhaust fumes. I read in wheel tuner magazine Richard gadson ripped off a 9.2 second quarter mile on a bone stock Busa2. Now thats acceleration!!
I think thats what xxx means. it is slow by sportbike standards. But thats ok with me. if i wanted a sportbike i wouldhave gotten one
Yep, a Sporty is quick by car standards, but slow by motorcycle standards.
Really? What standards would that be?

The Sportster is HD's "sport" version of a motorcyle. Nearly every other maker has a bike of the same size displacement that is both quicker and faster that a Sportster. Honda set that stage 25 years ago with the CB750.
