I am thinking of doing the same thing. I have the chrome side covers and a custom so I think when folded up they would blend in fine. And they would definately make the wife happy, which will make me happy.

Honestly, though. They look pretty good. Besides, who cares what we think? You're puttin' them on to make the purty gal what puts up with you happy and as long as she likes them nothing else matters.
They look fine to me. They look very close to the pipes. Will they get warm when folded down?
When mounted properly (outer cover is just sitting on the pipe for pic purpose) they will be the same height as the standard pegs.
Just have to engineer the mounts to suit and it will all happen, still not 100% sure on how it will be done as the 08's have a 45 degree angle peg mounts and the board mounts are straight.
