I love my R, I dont like the 08 tank at all... good base forthecafe racer style, Im installing clip-on bars and moco painted headlight fairing and soon to come rear controls and 14.25" progressives.
When I am ready to buy -- about 2 months -- if a Roadster is available, I will snap it up -- pretty much any color will do. Otherwise, I will probably go with a 1200C. Then change out the wire wheels for the Roadster style spoked wheels (don't like that skinny 21 inch wheel in front), and change out the forward controls for mids.
Possibly even take some of the chrome off the bike.
The Roadsters are definitely cool. It was my #1 choice when I went to order my new bike in August '05...but...at the last minute I decided that I wanted the bigger gas tank for road trips so I went with the Custom. I agree that the Roadster should have the peanut tank. I think the 1200L should have the peanut tank as well.
hey chad,i like your white custom, when they first came out i went to the dealership and they had a white one and could not believe how nice it was.never thoughta white bike would look good but damn nice looking.
Well. for me, it was love at forst sight with custom and its tank and its undertstated chopperish look. With that said, I think the Roasdter was intended for riding harder and faster, what with the tach, dual front brakes, and less refined looks. I am liking it more and more, especially as a I see these good looking ones here. But, I must admit, I have been wallking past the roadsters over to those nightsters. Did they make an 883 roadster? I wonder if I could Nightster out one of those or maybe an 883 low out for a second low budget nightster.
That doesn't mean that the peanut tank doesn't look sweet! My a$$ needs a break from riding before I get to the 120 mile mark and need gas anyways. No matter what year, the Roadsters are the best sportsters.
You could probably benefit from setting the bike up to fit you better, then. 120 miles is a breakfast run...
Well, the dealership I work at has had two 2008 1200 Roadsters. Both sold in a few days. I liked the 883R and I like the 1200R. But I think I'll wait to see if they sell the XR1200 in the states for 2009.
