Been looking at my local dealership and have pretty much decided on a 08 1200 Roadster. Problem is, the dealer never has any on the floor. I saw one that was being prepped for a customer, It hadn't even made it to the showroom floor. There are loads of 1200C, 1200L and Nightster models available though.
Is the Roadster model made in smaller numbers than the other Sportsters or are they just popular since they seem to be the most bang for the buck in the Sportster lineup.
I really like the blacked out engine, mid controlls and black spoked wheels.
Anybody have any pros or cons on the Roadster model?
the R is a bit taller i believe and has a wider and flatter handlebar, its the model i would have went with when i had my sportster if i had the $ at the time. i dont think they are the most popular i think the 1200C is. I dont think they're bieng bought up either at least at the dealers ive been to. especially one that has had a more racy looking R for sale for over a year now and the salesmen said that it was because it was and R model and they are the least popular. But i still want one when i get some more $$$
the big tank grew on me a bit but i think i still like the peanut a bit more
I hated that damn P-Nut tank when I first bought my R. But the overall height, mid controls, and the dual front discs were whyI bought it, not to mention the blacked out engine andtachometer... Then, I started liking the little bastage (the tank) and now, I wouldn't trade it for nothin'. Yes, you have to fill up every 100 miles or so, but I'm ready to pull over then anyway
The Roadsters are definitely cool. It was my #1 choice when I went to order my new bike in August '05...but...at the last minute I decided that I wanted the bigger gas tank for road trips so I went with the Custom. I agree that the Roadster should have the peanut tank. I think the 1200L should have the peanut tank as well.
