I put this on General Chat, but no response, so I will try here.
I'm looking for a used Sundowner seat for my 06 1200-C on ebay, about 50% of them say they have some cracking on the bottom pan around the center plate. Most of them say the cracks are small and the seats still work fine.
Is this a commen problem with Sundowners...Thanks...
GP.
A friend of mine had a Sundowner on his Sportster and had the same problem. That is why I bought a Mustang seat for the Sportster I had, and the Super Glide I have now.
Yes, its very common. Mine cracked around the plate the first week I had it (they may be farily comfortable seats but poorly made and dont always fit well). The cracks on most are just at the edges where the plastic pan is formed around the metal plate and seldom crack further (mines a year old and crack is no bigger. If you dont mind sitting higher and paying more the Mustang is a better choice (had one of those as wellfor several thousand miles and though comfortable I just did not care for the look of it when soloor seat hgt.)
