James: There is a SE I and a SE II. The II is the more open exhaust. That is probably what you are looking at. Go for the II or even step up to one of the aftermarkets like the V & H, the Cycle Shack, the Sampson, etc. I found on my XL 1200 R that the Cycle Shack turnouts gave me the "Harley" sound that I wanted and significant amounts of additional torque right in mid-range rpm levels. You do have to re-jet the carb when going to both open exhaust and better A/C unit. ............. BC
the o2 sensor had no affect on the SE II's from 05 - 06, when they set me up with the new ride the only things swaped between the bikes was the license plate and the SE II's - everything else bling wise was new.
I'm new to Harleys and planning to pick up a 1200R next month. Could someone recommend a good aftermarket exhaust with a deep & mellow sound and moderate volume (somewhere between the stock pipes and straight pipes)? Screamin Eagle? Also, would a Stage I mod be necessary with your recommended pipes? Thanks.

I've heard the V&H slip on's yesterday. They sound great and might be just what you're looking for. Deeper, louder, but not raspy and overpowering. Sounds very similar to the SEII's w/ slightly more volume. Either one will probably work good for you.
Me, I'm going w/ the Samson Big Guns 3's. Haven't heard them yet, but love the look, and based on the legnth and pipe diameter they should be just what I want.

I have SEII on my 1200R if you want to see a pic it is in my gallery. The SEII are loud a lot louder than stock but they aren't straight pipe loud i also went with a SE AC SE plugs and wires and a rejet and my bike runs great there is a huge jump in performance, so i would recommend the SEII unless you want a really really loud pipe.
