I need to purchase a set of new mufflers for my wifes bike. Ithas a 883/1200 Zippers Torquester engine. It currently has a set of heavily modified SE mufflers and they seem tohave way to large a volume for this combo because they pretty much destroyed the bottom end performance.
If anyone has used these I'd like to here some feed back and if posibble I'd like to see a picture ofthe core design.
I'm guessing the 1.5 core mufflers would probably restore the bottom end power, but they still need to be pretty loud, my wife likes her load mufflers.
I will post an updated video of my 08 883 with RUSH slipons tomorrow. I took the baffles out tonight and it sounded like dogshit. I put the baffles back in but without the wrapping and it sounds about the same as it did with the wrapping. I will post it tomorrow.
I don't like the sound of the Rush mufflers. I use Cycle Shacks. I feel the Cycle Shacks are deeper in tone....however mine are 2"+. While I haven't felt a drop in low-end, I did the whole Stage 1 at once so I can't tell if low-end is suffering due to the muffler size. All I know is it feel great!
Either way to keep most of your power you'd probably do better with a 2-into-1 exhaust setup....but the 2-into-1 sound is so different a sound.
Go to the dealer some weekend and listen to the bikes and ask questions. Best way to hear the differences. Cycle Shacks are only like $120 so it may be worth a shot. That's how I started, I bought the Cycle Shacks and said "hell they're cheap enough if I don't like them who cares" but I never got rid of them I like the sound so much. Plus nobody around my area has them and I always get compliments...even my HD service manager asked what pipe I had...
Enough of my ramblings.....sorry...back to my beer....
