I went to my local dealer today and inquired about the Stage one upgrade for my 08 Ultra and asked about the Screaman Eagle mufflers to go with it. He said they no longer even carry the SE due to the fact that they are too quiet. He then recommended the Rush mufflers. Would like feedback from anyone with these on their touring bike.
I bought the SE Touring slip-ons #64985-07 for my 07 Road Glide at the end of last year. They were quieter than stock but from what I've read they have made them louder ..the new part number is 64985-07A . I've tried the Rush's with the 1.75 baffles and they sounded great but too loud for me when on the throttle. Then I bought the 1.5 baffles for them and still found them a bit too loud. Ended up putting the SE back on and am thinking about trying the new ones ...64985-07A.
We sell plenty of Rush mufflers at the dealer where I work. They are good mufflers and you can't beat the price. If you go with them, get either the 1.75 or 2.0 baffles.
I have had the 2.0 slashcut down on my RK for a year now. I can honestly say, well worththe money, they have not blued, but the sound has changed (for the better) a little over time.
I have the 2.25" slash-up on my '08 RKC and even though I've only had them a couple of weeks, I love them. Sound great without being loud when you're actually riding. I bought them because you can easily change the sound by swapping the baffles for about $60. Then FuelMoto came out with his new system and made it an even better deal. Assuming his setup will be released for the '08's that is.
I thinkthat exhaust is all about personal preference.A local bike night would be a good place to meet others and hear their pipes. You may also try a busy Saturday afternoon at your local dealer. I chose mine by listening to three different set-ups at a dealership and chose Rush with 2.0 baffles. I am happy, but you may not be. I know that I would be pissed if I dropped $400 or more for a set up that I didn't like.
