OK, I'm 6'5" and 225 Lbs. I really like and want an XL1200C, but everywhere I go, people say it's "not enough bike for you", "Step up to a Dyna", etc. I'm very comfortable and confident on it [I've owned bikes before]. I can't find anyone who will sell me what I want-a black Custom. What to do? Any and all input is welcome.
It's not that they won't take my money, they keep arguing with me. "You'll be back in a year wanting to trade up", "You're too big for that bike", etc. It's been a long time since I've had a bike and dammit I want another one. I know what I want. My cousin has a Dyna Low, and he lets me ride it. I love the bike, but not well enough to own it.

BTW-I'm new here...
Smack them.
Buy one.
Enjoy it.
I mean, what's *really* "enough" bike? People are still modding the 186MPH Hayabusa for ****'s sakes.
the 1200 sportster will move along just fine. If you want something faster, then get an FZ-1 or some other used sport-standard to keep in the garage too.
People are nuts with "enough power". You probably don't want to hear me going on and on about how most people wanting faster bikes are usually the worst riders of the bunch, too.
Well, I'm going to go against the grain here and agree with what you're being told. Look at the Superglide Custom if you like the look/feel of the XLC. The Dyna is really just the big brother of the Sporty. Go check one out. They're relatively cheap as well.
Your dealer is sucking wind and blowing it up your skirt.....He's stuck with lots of more expensive larger bikes right now due to economy......Sportys are still selling fast due to gas prices and lower entry cost......
Wad your money up and take it somewhere else. You should be able to step over any 1200C for 9.5K out the door, or a basic Dyna glide for about 12K....If he wants more than that, then keep shopping.
i have owned my 2007 xl1200c for just over a year now. a few months ago i entertained the thought of getting abigger bike but each time i ride her and squeeze that throttle all the way down i remember why i boughther. i seriously do not think i can get another bike now.get what you want. there are things you could change after you ride it for a while to make it more comfortable. Do it!
