I posted a few days ago about some VERY tight allen bolts holding my mid-controls on my Nightster. Afterbusting my ***, I finally finished the project of installing the forwards today. Big thanks to everyone that submitted advice on getting those suckers loose.
I've learned a lot in the process...
1) Use the right tools to begin with...not after you've screwed things up.
2) Allen bolts don't like to get forced into loosening (Stripped two)
3) Now I know why my dad used to get pissed at his Sporty when I was growing up. (He'd stop talking to it for days)
4) Don't give up...but do take breathers to think through the problem. Do ask for advice on HD Forums, lots of people know way more than I do.
Cheers everyone. I'll have some pics up soon. Fyi, the dealership told me 3 hours to do this project. If I would have had the bolts out when I started, would have taken me 1.5.
RE: Lessons learned...thanks for the help everyone...
Hey Tweakin,
You have a pic of your black rotors? Where did you get them. I've been thinking about getting some black/aluminum ones, but would love to see some on a bike.
