Default blew a fuse...

Went to start my Nightster up for work this morning and "click" no start. I went on to work in my cage a little pissed off. So I get home and the first thing I do is check the fuses. Sure enough my ignition fuse was blown. I changed my bars a week ago and no problem all week until this morning. Does anyone know what could have caused the fuse to blow?

If it's working good now you may be OK, sometimes a fuse does blow for no apparent reason, possibly faulty manufacturing.

No way to trouble shoot your problem from here, but HOTLAP said, "If it's working good now you may be OK, sometimes a fuse does blow for no apparent reason, possibly faulty manufacturing", and that could be the case.

If a new fuse blows, I'd target a short somewhere in the wires or connectionsyou moved during your bar change.Shorts can be a pain to track down, but maybe you've got a pinched wire with an insulation breach somewhere.

Good luck.

Probably pinched the wire from your ignition when you swapped bars. I just swapped my bars out last night. When I turned the key "on" afterwards the horn kept sounding.
I loosened left grip and reran the wires making sure everything was clear and no more problem.

Check to see if you are pinching any wires.

I have to disagree with HOTLAP. If a fuse blows, there is a reason. In your week of riding with no problems the wire insulation was probably being worn through. I would bet it was caused during the bar swap.

The last thing you worked on is the first place to look. If you replaced the bars, I would bet a month's pay the problem is related to that. Most likely is a pinched wire under the switch housing. Been there and done that.
