A little over a month ago, I went down on my way to work. Asswipe pulled right into my lane and never stopped. Bike went down. I have an 06 1200 c, with leather bags that have the internal frame. The bike went down on the right side and skidded to a halt. Bars, Bags, brake pedal and pipes were ruined. No damage to anything else.
I have the bike sent straight to the dealer in Phoenix. GEICO hooks me and cuts a check right away. Dealer says 3500 in damage. I never heard exactly what the dealer said was damaged.
So one month later, the dealer says they are waiting on agas tank and front fender. Dealer says they can't even call Harley and get an eta. Dealer says it will be at least another 30 days if not more. Ihad a stock paint job, nothing special.
p.s. AZ Bike week starts next week, I'll be a spectator.
p.s.s I willNEVER do any business with this same dealer again.
Sorry to hear about your bike. Iunderstand your frusteration, I hate to beinsituations where you areat the mercy of others.
Was the tank and fender trashed?
I guess one of the service guys thought it would make me feel better when he told me it took 5 months to get his tank. Talk about pouring gas on a fire........
Never dealt with them but haven't heard very good things. Tell them to get it rideable and you'll bring it back when the parts are in. ****, tell them to give you the bike and parts and I'll help you put it back together. Then when the parts come in we'll put it back together and they can cut you a refund check.
There are good dealers, and there are bad dealers. Some are excellent in some areas, while they suck in others. I'm fortunate to have a good dealer just 2.5 miles from where I live. Sales, Service, Parts, and Apparel departments are top notch. They ain't cheap by any means, nor do I think they are the best, but they're pretty darn good. Maybe they noticed the fender not quite straight, or maybe a scratch on the tank, and they want to make it as good as new? Maybe they want you to THINK that? Yeah, tell 'em to make the bike rideable, and let you have it till the parts come in. Back ordered for a fender and tank for a month, with no end in sight is too long, man. Get your bike back.
I feel your pain - it sucks when you can't ride... even worse when it's out of your control because of someone else's carelessness.
I'm surprised you didn't get the detailed estimate of damages. I'd go visit them and ask the service managerfor a full line-by-line explanation of what they've already done to the bike. How much labor and parts they've already committed to the job.
Have you called the MOCO yourself and ask about availablity of parts?
