Default blinker help

Hi, i got a problem with my blinkers... First off, the person that had the bike before me had put aftermarket blinkers on the rear and they were dual bulb ( is that normal)... well they are not bright at all and i know people won't be able to see them blink.

Also, my right blinkers when i press the button the light just comes on. the whole blinker setup seems bass ackwards.

Well besides that there is dual filament lights up front and the running lights are bright and the blinkers are the dimmer filament. That doesnt seem right either...

The only thing i could possibly think is a that a blinker module or somethin olong them lines is fried and is messing everything up. Well experts... help me! lol

If the bulbs are dual filament the previous owner quite possibly put some type of run/turn module on the bike. Take the seat off and look for a aftermarket module plugged into the harness.

They had one but it was just 3 wires, a hot wire and one going to each of the back turn signals. I thought that might have been the problem so i cut it out... i didn't see any wires going to the front turn signals were the dual filaments are.

Is that right to only have one box going to only the back to turn signals. If it is, i'll plug the box back in.

Does anyone have stock turn signals they want to get rid of?

Installation of a run/brake/turn module does not require the installation of dual filament bulbs or extra wiring beyond the module itself.

Yes, it only controls/affects the rear lights.

The rear turn signal/running lights should be single filament. But since you didn't post any info on the year and model of your bike I can't say for sure.

ok, it's a '95 883 hugger model

it did have the module, but the back lights are single filament lights.

the front however has dual filament lights.
the fronts problem is that the running lights are the brighter filament and the blinkers are the dim filament. the problem is is that you can't see the blinkers because of the brighter filament always being on. (it seems backwards to me)

the rears problem is that they just arent bright enough to see

the last problem is that the right side doesnt blink, it just lights up and stays lit when you hit the signal button.
the left works fine, just not bright enough to see.

I'm hoping it is just wired up wrong for the front, and that a relay or something is causeing the rights problem. But I'm kind of thinking it could be a blinker module or something just gone haywire.

What do y'all say?

p.s. other that that the bike is awesome.

It sounds like you are saying there are 2 turn signal bulbs on each side of the bike at the rear? Chances are, especially if they are wired in series, that is the cause if them being dim. I would disconnect one of them on each side. Its also possible that this dual bulb rig is a POS and just came with dim bulbs. Try connecting 1 bulb alone across your 12v battery and see if it gets any brighter. If not, get rid of the things.

It's possible on the fronts that the guy before you got the wires crossed that control the hi/lo filaments on each bulb.
