Default Front Brake

Well I need to order a new front brake line, and have no clue what to get. I'm raising the bars to 12". You guys with the mini-apes, how long of a front brake line did you get for your higher bars?

I am running 12 inch mini-apes. I used a brake line 9 inches over which was too long. I would guess 7 inches over would be about perfect.

Default RE: Front Brake

I went to the local indy. I used a Drag Specialities braided hose with the clear rubber covering for both the brake line and clutch.

My screwup in measuring the brake line was behind the fork, the hose goes to steel line and makes a 90 degree turn. If you follow the track of the hose including this 90 degree turn, you will have too much hose because the replacement hose is all hose and will not have the sharp 90 degree turn. I should have measured from the brake caliper along the hose thinking how the hose will snake around where the old hose had the 90 degree metal lines, and on up to the brake cylinder. The 9 inch over hose I have is fine, it just sticks out a little bit more. You can see it in my signature picture, but it doesn't really bother me.

Also you will need a new clutch cable. Throttle/idle cables can be re-routed, but they have to come out of the plasticsleeve at the tank bolt. I re-routed mine, but I really need to replace them before they rub a spot on the bottom corner of the gas tank.
