Default Speedometer

Can someone tell me how to take the speedometer apart so I can get to the needle?
It's a 08 XL1200L Sportster..

Sure.

1. Remove speedometer from bracket.
2. Disconnect all cables/wires.
3. Lay on ground.
4. Hit with hammer.
5. Find needle.

Simple.But you'll need a new speedometer before riding again.


Sorry. Back in the day, the bezel (trim ring) would unscrew. Then you had access to the needle that would never come off. On others, there would be some screws in the bottom. Take those out, and the whole contraption would come out of the housing. I haven't seen the new ones.
