Default Speedo Sensor

Ok, long story short, San Jose HD took 7 days to do 7 hours worth of work on my bike (Stage 1, new front wheel, seat, windshield), after telling me it would take 1 day. That sucks *** enough, but when I finally go today to get it, and drive off, I notice the speedo's not working, odometer either. So, I turn around and take it right back. 2 guys come out and look at it, can't figure it out right there (was really hoping for a loose cable), so now they want me to take it back. Which is something I pretty much don't wanna do, ever again, not even for a free job. So, I got questions:

1) Any way to be sure its the sensor? I've read a few other posts, and its seems 99% like the symptoms others have had and gotten fixed by changing the sensor.

2) If I take it back, anyone know how long it'd take to change the sensor? I don't want to leave it there and wait for a call that might be days later if its just a simple 10 minute job.

3) Is it expensive and/or hard to change? I've taken my metric bike's engine completely apart and put it back together and it still runs years later, so I'm not horrid at wrenching, but really didn't want to have to do much on a brand new bike.

thanks,

bill

couple things - get a manuel, a couple casses of beer and find a new dealer. As far as having them jerk you around, let them know only a woman can do that to you and even then, you don't smile about it - o - drink the beer and don't let yer bike being new scare ya away, just think if you were to leave her alone for 20 yrs - and she was old - mabey beat looking - she's still yours - get to know her - my .02

That really does suck, bill. If your ride is still under warranty, I'd first thing go ask for the owner of the store -- not the shop manager, not the sales manager, the owner! Tell him this horror story and ask him what he intends to do about it. If you don't get some satisfaction, then take it elsewhere. Doing something outside of your warranty could become a horror story too. Don't get mad... get even.
